UPWARDLY MOBILE

THIS IMAGE WAS MADE, BASED ON THE WORK OF LEGENDARY PARISIAN FASHION DESIGNER PIERRE CARDIN, FOR THE COVER OF MY NEW LOOK BOOK. I WANTED TO MAKE A PIECE THAT SHOWED THAT MY GOAL WAS TO BLEND ART AND FASHION INTO ONE. CARDIN'S CLOTHING IS SO VISUAL AND SEVERE, EACH PIECE IS A WEARABLE WORK OF ART. THE WEARER BECOMES THE CANVAS FOR WHICHEVER OUTER-SPACE IDEAS CARDIN CAN COME UP WITH.

NOW, THE IDEA OF MOBILE ART WAS INVENTED IN 1931, BUT I FEEL LIKE WE REALLY SEE IT COME INTO ALL IT'S TACKY GLORY IN THE 1960'S WHEN CARDIN WAS ALSO MOST PROLIFIC. REMEMBER THAT SCENE IN 'VALLY OF THE DOLLS' WHERE HELEN LAWSON IS SINGING THAT HORRIBLE 'I'LL PLANT MY OWN TREE' SONG IN FRONT OF A GIANT MOBILE ON BROADWAY? I MEAN, I GUESS IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE EDGY, OR WHATEVER, BUT, UGH!!! ANYWAYS, WHAT WAS MY ORIGINAL POINT? OH YES, MOBILES ARE KIND'A LAME, BUT, VERY 60's MOD, ARTY.
