ALL DRESSED UP IN LOVE
SO, I MUST ADMIT TO BEING A HUGE 'SEX AND THE CITY' FAN. I KNOW ALL THE LINES AND ALL THE OUTFITS BY HEART. IN COLLEGE, I WOULD HAVE THE DVD's OF ALL THE SEASONS ON REPEAT IN THE BACKGROUND WHILE I WORKED AWAY FOR HOURS ON CLASS PROJECTS. IT'S A GREAT WORKING AMBIANCE SHOW! I ALSO LOVE THE FILM. I KNOW MANY PEOPLE THINK IT'S MUCH MORE HEAVY HANDED THEN THE SERIES BUT I DON'T FEEL THAT WAY AT ALL. BESIDES, THE WHOLE REASON TO WATCH IS TO SEE WHAT OUTRAGEOUS OUTFITS CARRIE, MIRANDA, SAMANTHA AND CHARLOTTE WILL WEAR NEXT!
I DREW THIS PIECE A FEW YEARS AGO AND TUCKED IT AWAY TO BE REWORKED LATER. I WANTED TO MAKE A DRAWING THAT WOULD SHOW THAT I CAN DO CELEB CARICATURES AND LIKENESSES. NOW, AS I'VE SAID BEFORE, WHEN I DRAW A FAMOUS PERSON, I OFTEN GO FOR TRYING TO CONVEY THE FEELING AND LOOK OF THE INDIVIDUAL MORE THEN A 100% LIKENESS OF THEM. I FEEL PEOPLE WILL GENERALLY UNDERSTAND WHO YOU ARE TRYING TO PORTRAY IF THEY RECOGNIZE SIGNATURE STYLES OF THEIR FAV ACTORS OR MUSICIANS.
OUT OF THE 4 WOMEN, I TRIED HARDEST TO MAKE CARRIE LOOK THE LIKE SARAH JESSICA PARKER. HER FACE IS SO GREAT AND ICONIC AND FULL OF CHARACTER. I MADE USE OF ALL OF HER TRADEMARK FASHION CHOICES: 'CARRIE' NAMEPLATE NECKLACE, TUTU, FLOWER PIN, BIG HAIR AND DESIGNER SHOES.
MOSTLY I JUST WANTED TO CONVEY THAT FEELING OF 4 GIRLFRIENDS OUT ON THE TOWN IN NYC, HAVING A DRINK AND GOSSIPING ABOUT THE BOYS.
