GIBSON GHUURRL

AH, THE GIBSON GIRL. THE ORIGINAL BATHING BEAUTY (ALLBEIT FULLY CLOTHED AND WITH A HAT ON!). THE ARTWORK OF THIS MODERN SPORTY GIRL WAS ORIGINALLY DRAWN BY CHARLES DANA GIBSON AT THE TURN OF THE CENTURY AND WAS CONSIDERED THE FASHION PLATE OF HER TIME. ALL MODERN WOMEN WANTED TO BE LIKE A GIBSON GIRL; ACTIVE, MYSTERIOUS, ALLURING, ADVENTUROUS.

IN COLLEGE I HAD TO DO A PROJECT WHERE WE WERE ASKED TO UPDATE AN OLD CLOTHING ITEM OR IDEA AND MAKE IT NEW AND MODERN. I CHOSE TO UPDATE BOTH THE GIBSON GIRL, AND THE IDEA OF THE ACTIVE, MODERN WOMAN. MY GIBSON GIRL USES HER REINVENTED BOXING GLOVE AS AN ALL PURPOSE FASHION ACCESSORY/DEFENSE IVE TOOL. THE SILHOUETTE OF THE GLOVE IS MUCH LIKE HER'S, LARGE AND ROUNDED ON TOP AND MORE SLIM AT THE BOTTOM. WHILE THE OLD FASHIONED GIBSON GIRL PLAYS TENNIS AND GETS INVOLVED IN THE ARTS, MY GIBSON GIRL FIGHTS IN A CAGE BRAWL AND SPRAY'S GRAFFITI AROUND THE 'HOOD!
NEEDLESS TO SAY, THEY DIDN'T GET IT. VIVA LA SAINT MARTINS. =P
